Campus Minister: Curtis McDaniel
Curtis grew up in the South in the states of Alabama and Tennessee. He attended several different schools in college, but finally graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in History. At UF, he became involved in RUF and caught a passion for ministering to students. After college, he went to Covenant Theological Seminary and graduated with his M.Div in 2009. During his time there, he married Margaret whom he had met through RUF at UF. After graduation, God opened a door to serve as an assistant and eventually associate pastor at a church in Savannah, GA (Grace Church of the Islands). While he was called primarily to work with middle and high school students, he had a broad array of experience in pastoral ministry. They were blessed there with the birth of their first child, Anna (02/2013). In 2013, the Lord opened a door for them to work with RUF at Purdue University. They are excited about the opportunity to love the students at Purdue and to share with them the hope of the Gospel. Since moving here, they were blessed with the birth of their second daughter, Kate (03/2015), and their son, Andrew (04/2018). In his free time, Curtis likes reading books, biking to work, watching & playing sports (Go Gators!) and watching a good movie/TV show.
Intern: Carrie Bristow
Carrie was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey as a missionary kid. Her parents still serve there, but her three other siblings are married and live all over the world. It's safe to say that traveling and exciting transitions are a major part of her life.
After graduating high school in Istanbul, she moved to the US to earn a Film degree at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She was a part of RUF for four years there, starting in the ministry team her freshman year. Her brother introduced her to RUF as he and his wife were a part of the fellowship at Northwestern. At the RUF there, Carrie found a home and a play where she could whole-heartedly be herself. As she was far from home, the tight knit community taught her about the unconditional love and provision of her Father in Heaven.
She is excited to continue this adventure with RUF as she moves to West Lafayette, IN and serves at Purdue University's RUF alongside Curtis McDaniel. She looks forward to being a part of the process of providing students there with a place where they can be vulnerable, ask questions, and feel at home.
In her free time, Carrie enjoys reading, cooking new recipes, taking pictures, going on dog walks, and traveling whenever she can!
Intern: Ryan McFarlin
Ryan hails from a small town in southwestern Iowa, which means he has a large soft spot for the Midwest. However, he loves to travel and seek out new adventures (a passion only fueled by a summer spent working for an NGO in northern India). Ryan is a recent graduate of Northwestern University (Go 'Cats!), where he majored in Religious Studies, minored in Legal Studies, and pursued a certificate program in Athletic Healthcare. Ryan is blessed to be joined in West Lafayette by his high-school sweetheart and now wife (!!!), Iris. Whenever possible, Ryan enjoys playing and watching sports, camping and hiking, trying new restaurants, reading an assortment of books, and making late-night dessert runs.
